Not a small sip either. A full cup tipped sideways while my toddler looked at me like the laws of gravity had personally betrayed him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was after the jumping, before the stuffed animal pile, and somewhere between the 6am wrestling match and the bedtime protest about the wrong pajamas.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The dream was simple<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did not need a perfect bed. I needed one that could survive our actual child.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wanted a bed I did not have to protect all day. He bounced, rolled, crashed into the side, laughed, and kept going.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did not love the jumping. But I loved not panicking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cover surprised me too. I expected the washing part to be annoying, because washable kid products sometimes sound easier than they are. But the process was simple enough that I did not make a whole event out of it. Unzip, wash, dry, back on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That changed how I treated the bed. I was not hovering with a towel every time he brought a drink near the room. I still had rules, obviously. But I was not acting like the bed would be ruined by one normal toddler afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fort test came next. Two blankets over the side, cars lined up along the inside edge, and one very serious toddler announcing that nobody could enter without a ticket. The bed held the whole scene without feeling like furniture I needed to protect.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What changed after that<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bed became part of the room, not something I had to guard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some mornings it was a racetrack. Some afternoons it was a fort with three blankets and a suspicious number of crackers. Once, it was apparently a boat. Another day, every car had to sleep along the padded side in a neat row. At night, it became a cozy place to wind down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My partner noticed that I had stopped saying, \u201cDon\u2019t jump on the bed,\u201d quite so often. I still said it sometimes.
